Busan-Geoje Bridge
Freyssinet requested that I produce a range of digital media around one of their bridge construction projects in South Korea. I was responsible for all facets of the project, from budgeting and freelancer recruitment, to logistics and on the ground direction.

The sea around Geoga is incredibly beautiful. Being a coastal climate with mild subtropical weather during winter, the sky was clear during my time there.
I find being in such unfamiliar places inspiring. The creativity flows easily, and I am constantly thinking in terms of “through the lens”.

A Challenging Environment
On a bridge construction project like this, there were a range of hazards not typically found in your average corporate production.

Confined Spaces
Connection of the suspension cables took place within the pillars. These areas were very confined and poorly lit.

Heights
Inherently there were a range of height hazards. The requirement to wear safety harness often made manoeuvring for shots difficult.
There was also the constant fear of losing gear over the edge.

Long Hours
Long days are common in video production, but they were prolonged by the need to travel from our accommodation to the work site.

Marine Environment
The calm waters meant I largely avoided sea sickness, but I had to maintain a constant vigilance as salt water and camera equipment do not mix well.
